Emily & Jake @ Lakeview Center ~ Michigan Wedding Photographer

May 17th, 2012

Reception ~ Lakeview Center
Portraits ~ Dewitt Riverside Park
Cupcake/Cake ~ Nom Nom Cupcakes
Caterer ~ Mortons Catering

Sharing a beautiful wedding from last October. We loved working with Emily and Jake on there fall wedding in Michigan. Love all the rich colors and rustic/home-made details. A Special thanks to everyone who helped make their day great.

Jana

Just a little something from the Bride:
Jake and I met through mutual friends at a bonfire. I was reluctant to go to the bonfire, but I got convinced. His friends kept telling me we were perfect for each other, I really didn’t care. There was not enough chairs at the fire so i decided I would back my truck up to the fire and sit on the tailgate. Across the back of my truck it said ” I got my daddys money, and mommas good looks.” Jake immediately saw it and said OMG I have always wanted to meet the girl that drove that truck! I said well here I am. We talked all night, it was love instantly. We started dating a week after, and 3 years later he proposed on christmas day, after we spend the morning with both of our families. We had gotten home to relax, when he said there is another gift under the tree. I leaned down and said no there isn’t, he said look again. After 5 minutes crawling around under the tree i sat back and found it under a blanket on the quilt rack. A small box. He got down on one knee as i opened it and asked me to be his wife.

The feel of our wedding was laid back, and fun, we are outdoors people, so we knew it had to be outside, rain or shine! The day I had always known, and I had told jake when we got engaged. The day was my fathers birthday October 23. My father passed away, and this was my way of knowing he would be there, and a way to celebrate not only us but him on a special day. I am a very hands on person, I love crafts, I made many different elements of the wedding from the centerpieces to the cupcake table stands. My awesome neighbor from the cabin made an arbor for us made out of birch trees with mason jars hanging from it! Our wedding day was so much fun for both of us, meeting before the wedding made the day extra special we spent time together before all the craziness began, I would recommend this to every bride and groom.

Big Brother, Little Brother

May 7th, 2012

We love working with families over and over. From Linda and JP’s wedding to little brother C! And they drove all the way from NYC for us to document the boys. We played with blocks and created a band. Overall the session was a huge success. We captured the boys’ personalities and created images that the family will appreciate for years.

Ashley & Evan @ Rittenhouse Hotel ~ Philadelphia Wedding Photographer

May 3rd, 2012

Location ~ Rittenhouse Hotel
Entertainment ~ Eddie Bruce
Dress ~ Watters Brides
Shoes ~ Jimmy Choo
Bridesmaids Dresses ~ Thread
Jewery ~ Jennifer Miller
Invitations ~ Apropos

We loved working with Ashley and Evan and their families.Thank you everyone who made their wedding day special.
I could never write a story better then the bride and groom.

Jana

Here are a few words from the bride…

My dress designer was Watters Brides and the sash was custom designed by Kim Hicks. The Shoes were Jimmy Choo. The bridesmaids dresses were Thread. The earrings that I wore were from Jennifer Miller and the balance I borrowed from my mother in law. The invitations and wedding programs were from Apropos in Greenville, Delaware.
One of details that I would like to share with other brides is to just enjoy yourself and this special time. I had a great time planning the wedding with my mom and mother in law. I also would recommend that the bride and groom add personal touches to the wedding day. My cousin Teddy is an accomplished piano player at 11 years old and he played the piano as I walked down the aisle. Evan’s Aunt Laura, is a beautiful singer, and sang a song during our reception. Those special touches made our day even more personal and intimate.

How we met (from Evan):
Ashley and I met at Ashley’s friend Emily’s Birthday party. At the party, my buddy (Jared) who Ashley had met before, introduced Ashley and I. Ashley looked thirsty and I decided to buy her a drink. While we were talking, Ashley decided to try and tell me my life story. I was pretty intrigued and she was on point! Ashley was walking around the bar with her shoes off and it turns out that I had her glass slipper! She caught the fish that night and the rest is history…

How we got engaged (from Ashley):
Evan and I had plans to go out to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner with our friends Blake and Stephanie on a Friday night in early May. Midway through the day, Evan told me that Blake had surprised Stephanie with a room at the Waldorf Hotel as an early birthday present and that they had invited us for a drink in their room before dinner. After work, I met Evan in the lobby bar and we headed upstairs to Blake and Stephanie’s hotel room.

Evan had a key to the hotel room and when he opened the door, I immediately knew that we were no longer celebrating a birthday! The room was decorated with a red carpet, rose petals and a silver tiara (I had been following the Royal Wedding for months)! Evan got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! I of course said yes right away and we spent the rest of our fairytale night and weekend celebrating with each other, family, and friends. I am so lucky to be marrying my best friend and prince charming!

In regards to wedding planning, we felt like the Rittenhouse was the perfect venue. Since were were trying to find a compromise between my hometown in rural Pennsylvania and Evan’s hometown of NYC, we decided on a city wedding in Philadelphia. The Rittenhouse was beautiful and we fell in love with the location. The vendors my family and I have known for a long time. My parents have known Teresa Quill, the florist, for over 20 years. Teresa worked with the Rittenhouse and with my mom and I to create a beautiful ceremony and reception. I knew that I wanted the wedding to be traditional and classic, but with some modern and fun updates. I loved the round hydrangeas that flanked the chuppah and I loved the candles that lined the ceremony aisle. We decided that the flowers in the reception should be white and light pink to compliment the elegance of the Rittenhouse ballroom. I found the chuppah inspiration from Style me Pretty blog. And most of all, we are so happy that we decided to use MK Photo. We are so happy with all of our pictures- you captured everything perfectly and we so enjoyed working with you and Mike.

Alexa and her Favorite Pony ~ Pennsylvania Mitzvah Photogapher

April 19th, 2012

Getting to know the Mitzvah children I work with during the pre-shoot is one of my favorite times of the entire process. We get to connect and build a trust. When I found out Alexa and I shared a hobby, I had to take photos with her favorite pony.
We visited Ashford Farms where Rollo lives and Alexa rides. What a treat!

I wanted to create a series of real and relaxed images that would document the relationship – pony is the best friend a girl could have!

I can’t wait to document Alexa’s day in the summer.
