Copy albums for your parents or for you!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

With so many options for parent albums, this one may be the easiest one!  If your parents don’t want to choose any images for their album, or they are having the same difficulties narrowing down favorites that you did, the duplicate album is perfect!  When you select one of our beautiful Queensberry albums, you can also purchase an exact copy of your album.  This means your photo front cover you love so much will match, and the flips you added to your album for some flare will be miniaturized.

Jealous and want one for yourself, not just for mom?  They come in two sizes, 5″ and 7″.  Parents love the 7″.  Brides love the 5″.  Perfect purse-size album!  Now you don’t have to worry about taking your perfect album into work to show it off, you can take the perfect mini-version of it everywhere.  And since it is a copy of your full-size bridal album, your parents could end up with four to five times the number of images they would have had in a similarly priced custom album!

Kerry & Alfred recently completed their album and chose to do a duplicate album for her parents.  They chose to do the beautiful Duo style album, which is a combination of the traditional matted book, with full page images for a great impact.  When adding a duplicate album to your Queensberry order, any matting is digitized, so all mini-books are completely flush.  Since Kerry & Alfred chose black mats for their album, so their small digital book had black backgrounds.  If you choose ivory mats, the book would be flush with white backgrounds.

If your album is in its final stages of production, contact the studio to see if you can still add a duplicate to your order!

8×10 vs. Canvas

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

This is my personal testimony to decorating with photography.  And, in a way, to non-wedding photography for couples.

Just because you don’t have kids yet, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep working with a photographer after your wedding.  I have plenty of “arms-length” pictures of me and my husband (you know the ones I am talking about), but we didn’t have a ton of great pictures of us that were taken by someone else.  Not since our wedding…four years ago.  And neither of us liked being in front of the camera..or so we thought!  First of all – four years is too long.  Second – give it a try – and I guarantee you’ll be hooked.  Pete is already coming up with ideas for the other types of shoots we want to do.

Okay – if you missed the shoot Jana did of us in April - check it out.   You’ll understand why we are obsessed with what she created for us in just 45 minutes of walking around our neighborhood, talking, and having fun.  Forty-five minutes.  That’s it.  That was all we needed to end up with over 100 perfect finished images.  And it was incredible!  Oh – and we got to take our dog!  :)  You can’t quite see it in the photo , but in the background of the huge canvas is the Falls Bridge.  I am in love with the sunsets over this bridge, but I never envisioned it like this.  I went to school in the East Falls area and we moved back in early 2007.  We have had this gigantic wall with nothing on it for the past two and a half years.  We were waiting for the perfect image.  It needed something big, but we didn’t want to default to something from IKEA that everyone else had.  That’s my story.

Now my testimonial to decorating with photography….Canvas gallery wraps are such an amazing way to decorate!   Price-wise they are comparable to framing a print sometimes less, but it provides such a modern, versatile look.  I never have to worry about the frame matching my decor, just the image.  The focus is only on your image.  And you can go way bigger!!!

A+P Canvas

This wall is in our living room.  The ceiling is slanted and goes from about 16′-20′ at the highest point.  To give you some perspective, those windows are 10 feet high by 12 feet wide.  The “small” canvases are 16″x24″ and 1.5″ deep.  They were taken on our honeymoon in Alaska.  The big one is BIG!!!  I LOVE IT!  I can’t say it enough.  It is 40″x60″ and 2.5″ deep.  That’s as big as 30 8″x10″ prints!  Yeah…I would rather have that one “WOW” image on this wall than 30 8×10’s.  Or any number of smaller framed prints really.

Now are you ready to schedule your “just because shoot”?

Thank you again Jana!!!!!!  We cannot thank you enough for what you helped us create!

Angelique - ps. Trouble is the name our dog. And she is actually on the canvas! Hanging out next to the wall we are standing on :) You can see her on the original post!

Martina & Richard – A Winter Wonderland

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Here is an album from a family wedding that I photographed in the Czech Republic earlier this year. My sister and her fiance decided to have an intimate family gathering at Castle Detenice about an hour north of Prague. I may be bias but the ceremony and reception were amazing. Especially the staff being dressed in period costumes.
The bride and groom had an opportunity to take photos inside some of the castle’s private rooms after the ceremony. I have always wanted to photograph a wedding in the snow. Snow and a castle – even better! Martina and Richard braved the cold. I am glad she followed my recommendation and wore a fur coat and white boots. My roles as a photographer and a maid of honor in one sometimes conflicted and Brian did an excellent job capturing moments that I was not able to. We made a nice large album for the couple and 5×7 copies for all of the parents. I can’t wait to show them.

I will be in Prague and other parts of the Czech Republic on July 5-7. If you are in the area and would like an engagement, family, anniversary, or just because session please call the studio.

Beth and Joe do some decorating…..

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Joe and Beth just added some new decor to their home. A beautiful 30″x40″ custom made fine art Canvas wrap! Coming out of the church with such joy and emotion on their faces! They were so excited when they hung it that they emailed me a photo right away.
This is what they emailed us:

“This email is long overdue. We wanted to thank you again for the awesome canvas wrap. We hung it in our living room shortly after receiving it, and the compliments have not stopped since then. It makes an immediate impression on people as soon as they come in our front door. Everyone loves how different it is from a “traditional” wedding portrait and frame. Even a 15 year old kid, who is the son of Joe’s co-worker, made a comment on how he thought it was cool. :-)

We have attached a few photos so you could see how it looks hanging in our place. It always brings a smile when we pass by it in the house, and it reminds of us what a great wedding day we had…..along with the great wedding photography service you and your team provided.”

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend for Matt and Mary’s wedding. The family is excited to have mk Photography at another big event!
See you Saturday!
Beth and Joe

This is a frameless piece that so many of our clients are ordering.. This one pictured here is 3″ in depth. Remember small prints on large walls get lost very easily! Most people shy away from these larger pieces, but as soon as they see them in our studio they have a change of heart. Look at how the colors match so nicely! Great job Joe and Beth.

Thank You’s!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Jana,

I can’t express how truly fortunate Stefen and I feel to have worked with you. From our first meeting, you made us feel so comfortable and we loved your artistic perspective and creative work. We had such a great time during our engagement shoot and were blown away by the save the date cards and engagement album/sign in book you created for us. On our wedding day, you blended into the background so well that we hardly realized you were there. We couldn’t have been more thrilled with our pictures and our family and friends continue to rave about them. The time and personal attention you put into creating our album and making it absolutely perfect made us feel like we were your own special project, even though we know you have many clients and projects that you are continuously working on. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Our pictures and album are so much more than we could have ever wanted or imagined! I know each time we look at our album it will help us to remember the day and the emotion like it was yesterday. You’re the best and we hope to have the pleasure of working with you again in the future!

Thanks again for everything!

Mary Kaye - Angelique, I just wanted to let you know that we received our thank you cards in the mail last night and they are BEAUTIFUL. I was so impressed with the quality of them. I had no idea that the cover of the card would actually be a glossy photo as opposed to just a copy type print. (How awesome was it to see one of our wedding photos in print form?!?) Thank you so much for your beautiful design. I can't wait to send them out! Really looking forward to putting an album together with you. You are very talented. Have a great day! Mary Kaye Anthony

Mary & Matt Engagement Signature Album

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

You may have seen Mary and Matt’s engagement photos a few months ago. Their sign-in album just came back today and we wanted to share their fun layouts with you.

Mary - Hi Jana, The album looks AMAZING! Even though I knew it would look great, I was still so surprised when I saw it in person. Actually I didn't want to show the album to anyone (I wanted it to be a surprise for the wedding), but it was so awesome that I have been showing EVERYONE! I am even bringing it to our Thanksgivings to show the whole family. We love it! Thank you so much, and we can't wait for the wedding ;)

New box mount framing available!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

We are now offering two new different style box mount frames. The bevel mount and recessed floating mount. The bevel flush mount is a “glassless” style that can be freestanding on a table/desk or hung. To protect the print a textured protective layer is applied during the mounting process. Several frame styles are available and frame depths are available up to 3″. Pictured (left, center) is a black low profile 2″ deep frame. The result is a very unique piece that can compliment any room in your house. The recessed floating mount (right) is very eye catching and is a great way to show off your favorite photos. This is also a “glassless” design with a protective layer applied during the mounting process. The print surface is set lower than the front of the frame and appears to be floating. We gets lots of positive comments on these. Also available in many frame styles/colors/finishes and depths up to 3″
